RDP Solicitor Leads Revolutionary Approach to Divorce
Leading regional law firm RDP Law has introduced an innovative approach to help separating couples avoid court.
Known as Collaborative Law, this non-confrontational and respectful approach helps couples take the control for the future without the threat of court proceedings. The revolutionary method, mainly adopted by large city firms, sees each party appointing their own collaboratively trained lawyer and through face-to-face meetings, with the support of their collaborative family lawyers (and other professionals such as family therapists or financial advisers where needed) work together to find an agreement that works for both parties without the fight.
Head of the RDP Family Team Matthew Wells (one of only a few Resolution – First for Family Law trained collaborative family lawyers in South East Wales) spearheads the collaborative approach for the firm.
He said “For separating couples who genuinely want to achieve a dignified outcome that is fair to each other and most importantly their children without the often bruising and destructive impact of the other more traditional and often adversarial approaches to family law (such as court proceedings) the collaborative approach is well worth exploring”.
Mr Wells, who joined RDP in August, has a clear vision for the firm’s Family department introducing a full range of bespoke family law services.
